Position Description

The Department of South Asian Studies seeks applications for a preceptor in Sanskrit. The appointment is expected to begin on July 1, 2017. The preceptor will be responsible for language instruction and course development at all levels and across all genres and time periods of Sanskrit. The position is full time with teaching duties of five courses per year.

The position is for one year. Reappointment may be possible on a yearly basis for up to eight years (within the eligibility guidelines of the FAS), contingent on performance, enrollments, curricular need, position availability, and divisional dean authorization.

Basic Qualifications

The successful applicant should have demonstrated experience in teaching Sanskrit.

Additional Qualifications

A strong graduate record in any field of Sanskrit by the time of appointment is required. A strong doctoral record is preferred, as is knowledge of a second South Asian language.
